What is an Arts Consultant?
Someone (at least in my case) who does just
about everything except bookings. Recording projects,
promotion, public relations, music publishing, referrals,
special projects and most everything else (except bookings)
that people in the arts need is what I do. If I can't do it
myself, I can usually offer some guidance as to how it can
best be accomplished. Did I mention I don't do bookings?
Why do you have a special emphasis
on composers?
Because I believe that composers are an
underserved segment of the classical music world. They have
many wonderful ideas for projects that they may need a little
help getting started with. I'm glad to be able to offer that
service.
How do you go about commissioning a
new work from a composer? How much does it cost?
A lot of factors need to be taken into
account here, including instrumentation, length of piece,
copying costs, etc., etc. This needs to be discussed
person-to-person. Please feel free to contact me at
516-586-3433 or jamesarts@att.net
Do you offer any Arts-in-Education
programs?
Yes we do. Many of our ensembles and
instrumentalists have excellent education programs (several
of which are offered in English & Spanish). Additionally,
many of our composers are available for residencies,
workshops, seminars, etc. Circle of Dance Repertory Company
maintains one of the busiest Arts-in-Education schedules for
dance in the country.
How can I get information about 4Tay Records or other labels?
I am the President of 4Tay Records, a new label that is open to many different kinds
of classical, jazz and alternative (i.e. electronic, world
music, etc.) recording projects. I have strong affiliations
with several other independent labels that are similarly
inclined. If you have a recording project that you think
might be of interest to 4Tay or one of our other associated
labels, please feel free to contact me at 516-586-3433 or jamesarts@att.net
